In 2016, the planet's biggest sporting event will take place in South America for the firsttime in history. The city of Rio de Janeiro will be proud to host the Olympic andParalympic Games.
The event moves to the day-to-day life of Brazilians since the confirmation of victory,the unforgettable day October 2, 2009. The announcement by the IOC president,Jacques Rogge, was the crowning of a trajectory of greater achievements, but aboveall, the beginning of a journey of great opportunities and challenges.
The necessary infrastructure for the Games is impressive in every detail. There will be over 100 000 people directly involved in the organization, including 70,000 volunteers,and millions impacted the city in the country and the continent. They are expected tomore than 10,500 athletes from some 205 nations around the world, plus thousands ofmedia professionals, supportive and passionate about sport tourists from all corners ofthe globe.
To receive all these guests, the River will undergo a transformation, but without ever losing the spirit of Rio and the Brazilian energy, that infect everyone.
